Biography:

In a previous life Q was known to friends and acquaintances as Colm
Quearney, the guitarist and songwriter with not one but TWO of Ireland's
more daring bands (DRAGONFLY 1991-94 & LIR 1994-1999). As if being one of
the country's top guitarists in both the studio and the road for headline
acts such as Jerry Fish & the Mudbug Club, Mundy, Mark Geary, Bronagh
Gallagher, and Pugwash were not enough, Colm released his first solo album
" The World's Not Round" to overwhelming critical success in 2001 on his own
Strange Vibe Records. The success of his debut proved to be a beacon for the
independent music community thus proving you don't need to be signed to be
major record company to make a brilliant album!
During the tail end 2003 Colm simply became Q to the delight of small
children and grown-ups everywhere. His current band, HALLUCINATIONS,
features Zamo Riffman [drums], Andy McDonald [bass], and Bill Blackmore
[trumpet]. With the classic power quartet line-up in place, the band went to
work on what would emerge as the "The Body Electric" album, covering a wide
range of genres from 60's Spector pop lushness to esoteric garage rock to
reckless abandoned roots with a twist.
Featuring the single "Carol", expect "The Body Electric" to broaden horizons
everywhere. Truly a must buy for every household. Released in Ireland
October 1st, 2004.

THE WORLDS NOT ROUND
the recording for colm's debut album started in the summer of 1999. produced by colm q., conor brady & keith farrell. the album was two years in the making, it was done on a mixture of conor and keiths equipment. it features some really great musicians - randall rainwater, conor brady, john boyle, gavin ralston etc. the album received great critical acclaim and some of the reveiws can be read here at the site. the album is also available to buy here at the site.

RECKLESS SINGLE
the only single released from the debut album "the world's not round". it
also features a non album track "bright star".

DRAGONFLY BLAME
this e.p. was the only ever dragonfly release to date. it was produced by dragonfly with tim boland at tunnel studios and the track list was not the king, not nessecerily stoned but beautiful [the drawbacks], 108 and tinkerbell. the reason i say to date is because there is a compilation album planned for release in late 2001. watch this space.

LIR NEST
nest was made in boulder colorado at the end of a hectic three month tour of america, we were nearly killed in a van crash the week before we started it. it was produced by rick will and was really enjoyable to make, rick was very inspiring and he taught us a multitude in the ten days it took to record it. god bless you rick.

JOHN QUEARNEY BLUES IN MY SOUL
the oul fella giving it socks on the double bass with all original compositions. an album full of nice suprises ritchie and dick buckley looking after the brass section is one, james delaney and robbie overson trading licks is another. it's a self portrait.

PUGWASH ALMOND TEA
thomas walsh's debut album, joined by all his muso friends including myself. easy album to play on when all the songs are so good, effortless, his next album is on the way watch this space.
